Not A Rose Girl isn't one of those "dreamy, everything is totally Pinterest-perfect all the time" mom websites. We're real and honest, and talk about the hard stuff, like the veils we keep around ourselves as mothers, partners, and daughters. Motherhood is an epic balance of proportions. As mothers we know that extreme anything doesn't do the mind or body good. So we're not saying no to anything, but we are working on saying yes more to intentional living, mindful parenting, and teaching our children about joy, happiness and setbacks.

A life update: the baby of mine who I thought was going to be the last baby ended up not being the last baby. In the midst of the pandemic, our fourth baby – an oops baby – was born into our family, officially promoting child #3 to big brother status.
2020 – a year seared into our memories. Our lives turned upside down overnight. As we have just surpassed our one-year anniversary in isolation, I wanted to share my memories of my last “normal” week.
January. It’s the Monday of months, ya know? Thankfully, we can all move forward because it’s finally February. Perhaps it’s because of the slow drag of winter post-holidays, or the inevitable Q1 downtime, but over the past few weeks in my mom-off-duty hours, I’ve been taking care of the BTS admin work that goes on behind being a blogger.
I’m trading my laptop for Stovetop. And for the next 16 hours, the only thing I’m dishing is seconds. A little tribute for all you Gossip Girl fans 😉… but really, is there any better time than Thanksgiving (and the subsequent holidays) to bring out all the claws and knives?
Although I made a Fall Bucket List with my family this year, I kept it pretty simple (you can see it here) –– so that I wouldn’t suffer from Strenuous Seasonal Fun Disorder. It’s a thing, okay?
When a family crisis came up and we had to make an unexpected family trip to North Carolina last week, I barely had time to pack for myself, much less a family of five.
It’s that time of the summer when store aisles are stocked to the brim with No. 2 pencils, lined notebooks, and hand sanitizer.
Having lived across multiple state lines from my mother for over a decade, there’s a customary order of things she does the minute she steps off the plane and into my home for a visit.
I’ve been wining and dining my family for the last three Valentine’s Days. White tablecloth, red rose centerpieces, and decadent… fast food sliders that’ll give you all the heart eyed emojis?

When it’s Sunday and a high of 29 degrees-but-feels-like-19, you know I’ll do anything to avoid leaving my house.
To explain what it means to “spark joy” on her new Netflix series Tidying Up with Marie Kondo, Marie makes what I can only describe as a delighted “zingy” sound.
Doesn’t it feel like 2019 is going to be a big year? Your year. The year you get a promotion, start a blog, write a book, or insert whatever life-changing plan or epic epiphany you plan to have.
It’s the first weekend in January after nearly two weeks of winter break for my kids, and I’m more than pumped to slay the new year – but maybe starting after this weekend.
Still feeling that post-NYE ”glow”? Yea, mine stems from playing board games until 2:30am with our friends (and having 3 kids who stayed up ‘til 11pm but still rised as per usual).
First, ugly cry. Now that that’s out of the way, make sure to document with photos of the day your last baby becomes a full-fledged toddler and you foray into the unsure world of no. more. babies. ever.
With the holidays around the corner, don’t forget to take a pause from all the busyness and make sure to keep your family safe, sound, and sane.
Let’s be honest, it’s so much easier taking photos of your infant, than say a toddler on the go, or worse, a first grader who’s too cool for school.
Who says it has to be Tuesday to eat tacos? In our household, we’re game for Taco Night any night of the week, and it’s safe to say, this happens more often than not.
As I sit here on the cusp of my third and last baby’s upcoming first birthday, I can’t help but reflect on the last 6 years which I have spent as a mother.
Like the last few licks of a juicy popsicle, many of us parents are trying to squeeze in the last bits of summer fun with our kiddos.
It hit me this month that we really do not have much time before my oldest, Max, starts Kindergarten. Like, legit public school Kindergarten, which to me feels like a foray into the rest of adulthood.
Once upon a time, when I was a mother of one, I made all of baby boy’s first foods. I pored over baby food cookbooks for scintillating recipes to whet baby’s appetite.
There are so many great articles and posts out there with tips on motherhood and parenting in general. But not many talk specifically about how to get through the first 30 days after having a new baby.
We’ve been considering getting an electric vehicle for our family for quite some time.
