AAPI Heritage Month: A Weekend Itinerary with Holman BMW Princeton

May is Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month. 

To celebrate, I’m taking my family on a weekend cultural adventure with Holman BMW in Princeton! Check out our weekend itinerary which highlights some of the traditions and foods that are near and dear to the AAPI community. Our sweet ride, the BMW X7, got us around Princeton and Central New Jersey in true style from start to finish – ambient interior lighting moods, easy access to third row, SELF PARKING – and my kids couldn’t get enough of the panoramic, color-changing Sky Lounge glass roof! 🤩

1. Start at Princeton Public Library to read children’s books written by Asian authors – current faves are “Eyes that Kiss in the Corners” by Joanna Ho and “My Day with Gong Gong” by Sennah Yee.

2. Drive to HMart in Edison, about 30 minutes from Princeton, and try yummy Asian street foods and pastries – highly recommend the Crunchy Ramen Corn Dog and Mochi donuts, and don’t sleep on the tteok-bokki! 

3. Head next door to Island Spa and Sauna for a traditional Korean spa experience! Koreans incorporate natural methods of healing and wellness into their everyday life and Korean spa culture is at the heart of it all – restore, recharge and relax with family and friends! 10/10 recommend trying a full body scrub! 

4. Eat a Chinese hot pot dinner at Happy Lamb Hot Pot. If you’ve never had hot pot, you’re in for a warm, comforting treat. We eat this all year round, but especially love it on a cold day! 

As the daughter of first-generation Chinese immigrants, I think about my parents and how they paved the opportunities I have today. For me, this is an important month that reminds me to pause, reflect and embrace my roots – and as a mother to my four mixed children – to instill a sense of appreciation for our Asian culture. This weekend’s culture adventure with my kiddos was so fun – thank you, Holman BMW Princeton, for taking us on a ride!
