Holiday Red, New Years Eve Look You’ll Love to Wear All Year Long
I am a neutrals girl, with pops of color sprinkled throughout the year. But every December, come garland season through the start of the new year, I’m drawn to red and its festive, fiery jolt that gives me an excuse to dress like a human present. Red is the traditional color of the Chinese New Year, symbolizing good fortune and joy, and I love wearing this merry color (normally reserved for my Asian peeps around late January/February to celebrate the new moon) on December 31, too – feels like a bright start to the first of the year, no matter what culture you embrace.
Yet as I get older and wiser – and begin to set my sights on everlasting wardrobe investments, I need to make sure my NYE #OOTN purchases have a place in my closet after January 1. I’ll be wearing this red lace top I found at T.J.Maxx to more than just Christmas dinner or that NYE party with my friends – I’d feel as comfortable in this red lace going to year-round daytime playdates at the playground when I want to elevate my usual mom-jeans-and-tee style, as I would seamlessly transitioned into a comfy-cool-casual getup made up of a track-inspired silk pant and slouchy teddy cardigan for weekend brunch with the girls. Later on in the winter, I’d pair this red lace top with a muted tweed skirt in warm brown tones, then half-tucked into a pair of ripped denim shorts in the summer.
Do you have a favorite color or piece of clothing you love to wear all year round? I’d love to know in the comments!
